The Law of the Mirror is one of the principles that is taught in the book The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth by John C. Maxwell. (If you do not know about this book grab it now one of the best books I have ever read). One of the 15 laws it talks about is the Law of the Mirror.
Now, the Law of the Mirror states whatever we see ourselves as in the mirror is who we will act as. For example, if you believe that you are not worth anything than you have made the decision in your mind that you are not valuable enough to make a difference in the world. However, you can turn that around by believing that you are a mighty Lion (as seen in the picture) that you will accomplish great things. See the main thing in our lives is what we decide what we are going to be; a mighty lion or a small cub.
See yourself in the mirror and be the mighty lion that you were meant to be. DO NOT let someone take that image of you away. Be prepared to exterminate these negative people and factors away quickly because they will be chains that hold you down from your true glory. Even for me, if someone brings negative vibes to my atmosphere, I immediately exterminate them from my zone because I cannot not let that negative factor effect my growth process!
The time is now that we all see ourselves as the might people we are not, and not as the insects we treat ourselves as. How is it that we can be so confident in other people but we cannot be confident in our own abilities. Everyone has special talents and their own special value that they bring to the world. However, it is up to the individual to realize their true potential. It wasn't until I dove deep into myself and realized I had greater value in myself.
“No factor is more important in peoples psychological development and motivation than the value judgments they make about themselves” — Nathaniel Branden
Nathaniel hit it right on the head with this quote. The biggest factor in your personal development is how you PERSONALLY feel about yourself. People can not outperform their own self-image. So if you want to accomplish your goals, you need to elevate your thinking of yourself and go dominate!!
For myself, I was a victim to my circumstances and made excuses on why I was not going to make it happen. Blaming my race, age and experiences as to why I could not pursue a motivational speaker career. However, after in depth look in the mirror I realized that I had the inner potential to seize my dreams and make it happen. I now have full confidence that I will accomplish my dreams because of the self-confidence I have in my abilitites to do so!
At the end of the day, the decision is yours what you see in the mirror a VICTIM or a VICTOR.
